Bike Tree Project Finished!

I know it is hard to believe but, with the help of Nick and Cody, I actually finished a project this weekend! We are well known amongst family and friends for starting projects, but finishing them is another matter entirely.

Well, last week, whilst digging around my back room for my guitar (yet another project/interest), I decided a needed a bike rack. After some digging through internets, I found a "bike tree" concept. It is basically a vertical pole with hooks attached to a crossmember about 5ft up. The back wheel sits on the ground; the front wheel rests in the hook. It is solid, functional, and (in my opinion, at least) looks pretty good. Best of all, the whole project can be had for under $20.

I will be doing a little follow-up commentary on the official forum thread. I plan to make an official writeup and slap it in the Rec section soon. This will contain plans, a parts list, and a ton of pictures.

Be sure to check out our ImageStream for this project!

Update 11-14-2009: the official writeup is complete! Check it out here.

A[nother] Project — Bike Rack!

Today I got home and inadvertently created another project for myself.

You see, I was looking for my guitar amp which was buried in bottom of the closet in the "junk" room. You know, the room that collects stuff not used on a daily basis (I know you have one too!). After throwing away about a 10 pounds of cardboard from all the computer components I bought earlier this year, I had to move my wife's bike out of the way. Man, that thing always gets in the way—

Aha! I need a freestanding bike rack, don't I? Indeed, I do. Google quickly appeased my curiosity by showing both manufactured and DIY examples. I had best go draw up some plans while I'm still motivated!

The Picture Project Surfaces

There were only about two or three things I wanted to accomplish today. I so happened to get none of them done, but such is life.

Amongst other things, I been thinking about my Everlasting Picture Project lately. I am slowly trying to widdle it down. This pet project of mine tends to have boundless scope. But, talking with Brad last week, we came to a few conclusions which should help make this project happen.

Bloggy Blogness!

This here is a blog of nothingness as of the moment to test the functionality of the blogy thingy! Does it work? You tell me. ...In the future I will probably actually write something worth reading here that is of relevance.

Haircut or Apathy?

I can't sleep.

Which brings me to an unimportant update: my hair has grown longer. Oh no! it just grew again! I haven't bothered to get my hair cut since February. It is a bit of a combination of laziness, apathy, and the fact that my wife prefers it longer. I like combining things.

A few days ago I realized that my hair can make it all the way down to my mouth. This is a first!

Some day Randomland will get a full satire post about how neglecting to cut your hair is a greener, more economical approach to anterior hair-folical fashion.
